Founded in 1999 by British entrepreneur Maximillion Cooper, Gumball 3000 is a car rally which has taken thousands of supercars and entrants on an epic journey across the globe, touching down on every continent to create one of the greatest bucket list experiences possible behind a wheel.

As a brand inspired by the mechanics of classic engineering, in 2022 Piston Distillery sponsored the renowned car rally for that year’s planned route, Toronto to Miami.

With an amazing chance to strengthen brand association with the automotive enthusiasts’ part of their target audience, we took the opportunity to create an identity for the event. We wanted the style and feel to fit seamlessly with their campaign of ‘A Strong Rebellious Spirit’, which was previously created as part of their earlier rebrand.

Taking inspiration from the bold and unconventional, we created a distinct look that would capture the attention of everyone on the 3000-mile high-profile route. We commissioned world renowned artist, Rob Draper, to create a handwritten typeface, which served as a key element of the visual identity.

From limited edition rally bottles, merchandise, social media coverage to car livery; we interlaced this identity into every aspect of the Gumball journey. Elevating Piston as a premium beverage to a new audience and highlighting the truly refined brand they have become.
